YOGA FOR MENOPAUSE
The journey through a woman’s life leads to the ‘second spring’, the transition into peri-menopause, through menopause and beyond. In traditional Chinese medicine this phase of life is viewed as a new beginning.
In 2020 I went through 3 surgeries to prevent breast and ovarian cancer. I had a double mastectomy, removal of ovaries and surgical menopause while single parenting through lockdown. When I completed my Yoga for Menopause Wellbeing teacher training I learned the enormity of this physical, spiritual and emotional transition, and the richness of the practices we can learn to strengthen the body, calm the mind and settle the nervous system.
In the Second Spring specialised courses, workshops and retreats we explore the biological, physical, psychological and spiritual changes many women experience.
You’ll learn tools to manage common symptoms such as fatigue, hot flushes, anxiety, mood swings and sleep disturbance. We will focus on improving heart and lung health and mobility, and strengthening muscles, bones and pelvic floor.
You’ll be guided through a range of practices including yoga, meditation, breath work, myo-fascial release and lymphatic self-massage, and learn to recognise and support your changing needs and to harness its innate wisdom to heal.
